Question: Do I have to see a Chiropractor over and over and over again?
Answer: Yes and No! This is often a miss conception by some and a spot on understanding by others. One of the greatest things about Chiropractic is that there literally is a technique for almost everyone. These techniques are desided upon by what your doctor has been taught and what your doctor feels is the best treatment for you and your specific case. Some problems have been a part of your body for longer and need to be treated more. Some cases, such as acute injuries, may only need to be treated a few times. The biggest part of Chiropractic is putting the body back the way it was designed to be and allow it to work at its optimal level. Treatment of an injury, subluxation, altered biomechanics, etc. is usually determinded by the amount of time the body has been altered.
This being said, Yes!!! you should definently see your Chiropractor over and over and over again! This does not mean three times a week for the rest of your life. What I mean is seeing your Chiropractor on a regular bases to keep your body fine tuned throughout your life. Sometimes you will have these Subluxations throughout the body without you even knowing it. A wonderful thing about the human body is that if there is a problem, a lot of time we can work right through it. I like to call it the "Walking it off" mentality. What this means is that we have all walked of a rolled ankle, or a sore back, or sore shoulder, or sore etc. and the pain has gone away. As busy human beings we don't have time for pain and we adapt our bodies to work around it. We do this until one day we go to pick up the penciil on the floor and throw out our back. It most likely wasn't the pencil that hurt us. It may have been the fall we had in highschool, or car wreck we walked away from with just a little bit of soreness, or the tree we fell out of when we were six, or one of the many other things that we all walk off. Then we go about our business, the pain gets less as the nerves desensatize. These tramas can alter our bodies biomechanics which makes are bodies have to work harder and causes a multitude of different symptoms. Sore shoulders everyday after work, headaches in the morning, achy hip joints after an easy walk. The list is endless. Some of us live under the belief that these problems are caused by a deficiancy of Ibuprofin or a multitude of other pain killers. So when we feel the pain we run to the pill. If that is your choice and it works and your Primary Care Physician agrees, use it. But All of these symptoms can also be caused by subluxations and altered biomechanics throughout the body, and this is exactly what your chiropractor works to correct.
Now in no way am I saying that altered biomechanics and subluxations are the root of all our daily pains and agganies, but I am saying it sure is nice to rule it out. Keep your body well tuned and see your chiropractor regularly.
